Kensington Palace is in Kensington Gardens (High Street Kensington Tube). Formerly home to Diana, Princess of Wales, this Royal Palace was created by conversion from an existing building for William III in 1689; it was then the royal court for Queen Anne, George I and George II – though Victoria then moved out to the new Buckingham Palace. Though the Palace is open to visitors who can view the various collections (the State Apartments and the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection can be seen), it is also a private residence. Recently the Palace has been home to several members of the Royal family, as the Dukes and Duchesses of Kent and Gloucester live there – and Kensington Palace was home to Diana, Princess of Wales from 1981 to 1997.  The exhibition “Diana Princess of Wales” by Mario Testino can be seen at Kensington Palace until 1 July 2007.
