The Alexander Fleming Laboratory Museum is based at St Mary’s Hospital – get there from the Paddington Tube. You can see the restored laboratory that Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in 1928 –the famous story tells of his Petri dish contaminated by a mould that suppressed the growth of bacteria. The museum follows the discovery of Fleming, and there is a video presentation as well. This is designated as a International Chemical Landmark and visitors come from all over the world. You can download a leaflet about the museum from the website: www.st-marys.org.uk
